Closer Is Better Party – Official Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Ts&Cs”) govern participation in the Closer Is Better Party campaign (the “Promotion”) organized by Closeup Nigeria, a brand owned by Unilever Nigeria Plc (the “Promoter”). By submitting an entry to this Promotion, participants (“Participants”) acknowledge that they have read, understood, and unconditionally agree to be bound by these Ts&Cs.

The Promoter reserves the right to modify, amend, or update these Ts&Cs at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting on the official Promotion microsite. Continued participation in the Promotion following any such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Ts&Cs.

Please note:

  • Participants are responsible for regularly reviewing these Ts&Cs to ensure awareness of any updates.
  • These Ts&Cs apply to all aspects of the Promotion, including entry methods, participation requirements, event conduct, and prize claiming.
  1. Eligibility

1.1. The Promotion is open to legal residents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria only. 

1.2. Participants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Proof of age will be required. 

1.3. Only couples in the “talking stage” (defined for this Promotion as two individuals who are acquainted and mutually interested in exploring a romantic connection) are eligible to participate. 

1.4. Employees, directors, and officers of Unilever Nigeria Plc, Wild Fusion, partner agencies, vendors, and their immediate families (spouse, parents, children, siblings) are not eligible to enter.

  1. Promotion Period

2.1. The Promotion is scheduled to run from October 2025 to December 2025. The specific dates for the Closer Is Better Parties, which will be held across 7 Nigerian cities, will be communicated to selected Participants. 

2.2. The Promoter reserves the right to extend, shorten, suspend, or modify the Promotion period at its sole discretion due to any unforeseen circumstances.

  1. How to Enter

3.1. Interested couples must visit the official Closer Is Better microsite (URL to be provided). 

3.2. Couples must fully and accurately complete the official online entry form, which includes answering a series of fun and emotional questions about their talking stage, and providing their personal contact details (names, phone numbers, email addresses, city of residence). 

3.3. Only one entry per couple is permitted. Multiple entries from the same couple will be disqualified. 

3.4. Only fully completed entries submitted via the official microsite during the Promotion Period will be considered valid.

  1. Selection of Participants

4.1. A panel of judges appointed by the Promoter will review all valid submissions after the entry period closes for each city. 

4.2. Approximately 25 couples per city will be selected to attend the Closer Is Better Party. 

4.3. Selection will be based on predetermined criteria, including but not limited to: eligibility, the creativity, authenticity, and emotional depth of the responses, and overall alignment with the campaign’s spirit of fun, confidence, and genuine connection. 

4.4. The decision of the judging panel and the Promoter is final, binding, and not open to appeal.

  1. The Prize

5.1. The prize consists of one (1) exclusive invitation for the selected couple (two individuals) to attend the Closer Is Better Party in their selected city. 

5.2. The invitation includes access to the event, complimentary refreshments, entertainment, and all experiences curated by Closeup for the event. 

5.3. The prize is non-transferable, non-negotiable, and cannot be exchanged for cash, credit, or any other goods or services.

  1. Claiming the Prize

6.1. Selected couples will be notified via the phone number and/or email address provided on their entry form. 

6.2. To confirm their attendance and claim their prize, selected couples must respond within 48 hours of notification and may be required to provide a government-issued photo ID (e.g., National ID Card, Driver’s License, International Passport) to verify their age and identity. 

6.3. Failure to respond within the specified timeframe or provide adequate verification may result in forfeiture of the prize. In such a case, the Promoter reserves the right to select an alternate couple.

  1. Event Conduct

7.1. By accepting the invitation, Participants agree to conduct themselves in a responsible and respectful manner at the event. 

7.2. The Promoter reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to refuse entry or remove any Participant who behaves inappropriately, is under the influence of illicit substances, or whose conduct is disruptive, offensive, or contrary to the spirit of the campaign.

  1. Data Protection

8.1. The Promoter will collect and process personal information (e.g., name, age, contact details) solely for the purposes of administering this Promotion, including contacting selected Participants and managing the event. 

8.2. Participant information will be handled in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws in Nigeria. Personal contact information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties without consent, except as required for the execution of the Promotion. This clause is distinct from the media release in Section 9.

9. Media Release, Content Usage, and Intellectual Property

By submitting an entry and/or attending the Closer Is Better Party, each Participant irrevocably agrees and consents to the following:

9.1. Consent to be Filmed and Photographed: Participants consent to be photographed, filmed, interviewed, and recorded by the Promoter and its authorized agents during the event.

9.2. Grant of Rights: Participants grant the Promoter a perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, distribute, display, edit, modify, and create derivative works of their name, image, likeness, voice, biographical information, and any content submitted during entry or created at the event (collectively, the “Media”).

9.3. Purpose of Use: This license allows the Promoter to use the Media for any and all advertising, marketing, publicity, and promotional activities for the Closeup brand and this campaign. This includes, but is not limited to, video productions (e.g., commercials, after-movies), social media posts (e.g., Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X), print advertisements, digital banners, billboards, public relations, and internal communications.

9.4. Ownership: All photographs, video footage, audio recordings, and other media produced by or on behalf of the Promoter at the event shall be the sole and exclusive property of the Promoter.

9.5. No Compensation: Participants acknowledge that their attendance at the event is the sole and sufficient compensation for the rights granted herein. Participants will not be entitled to any further payment, royalty, or other compensation for the use of their Media.

9.6. Waiver and Release: Participants hereby release, waive, and discharge the Promoter, its parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and all respective officers, directors, and employees from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of the use of their Media, including but not limited to claims for defamation, invasion of privacy, or infringement of the right of publicity.

  1. Limitation of Liability

10.1. The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, or misdirected entries, or for any technical malfunctions that may occur. 

10.2. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Promoter shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or disappointment suffered by any Participant as a result of entering this Promotion or accepting the prize.

  1. General Conditions

11.1. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all Participants and to disqualify any Participant who tampers with the entry process or who is in breach of these Ts&Cs. 

11.2. The Promoter reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Promotion at any time without prior notice, especially in the event of circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

  1. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

12.1. These Ts&Cs and any disputes arising from the Promotion shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 

12.2. Participants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria to resolve any disputes.
